I'm getting married in the morning. . .

cue “My Fair Lady.” Sorry for the long absence. My younger brother got married on the 10th, and then I stuck around Utah to visit family for a week and a half, we returned and quickly all got the flu, and its just taken me some time to get back in the swing of things-you know the story.
I’ve also put off writing this post because I really wanted to post some of the pictures of Devin and Jessica from their professional photographer, but alas we’re still waiting on those. I’m afraid I was so preoccupied just keeping track of my two fellas, I didn’t get any great shots of the bride and groom- wait! Thank you Facebook, I just found some- here’s a sneak peak.. .

Yup! That’s where they got married. Stunning no? And to think that gorgeous edifice was built by homeless pioneers in the late 1800’s. All in honor of their God, our God.

Oh my! Isn’t my brother so dashing- and Jess is a real stunner. I was crazy about her dress. I got to do her makeup for the wedding day, which felt like a real honor, whether I not I had the skill to deserve it. Mostly I was thrilled to be there with her the morning of. Because I live in WA and they’re in UT I haven’t got to spend as much time with either of them as I would have liked, so I was grateful for the chance to laugh and have a good time with Jessica before the chaos of the day began.
I also have to point out Devin’s style. I was crazy about his Euro get-up. He used to be a baggy shirt and sweat pants sort of kid in high school, then he served a mission in Germany and came back sporting outfits like the above. I’m a huge fan- of the style, but more so of the confidence to wear what he likes regardless.

This is how a bunch of Mormon Dads throw a bachelors party- mugs of root beer all around! Please note my father’s face- I LOVE that smile!

And a hike to Ensigns Peak.

Tom was able to finagle switching with three other residents in order to make it to the wedding. He was only there about 36 hours, but we were thrilled to have him with us on such a momentous occasion- My entire family at the temple! Walking through the temple hand in hand on our way up to the sealing, I felt giddy- remembering our own temple sealing about seven years ago. Looking over at Tom I wanted to jump in his arms- as I did that day. But propriety kept me from doing so. Oh, I love that man, my man, even more today then I did then, and that’s saying something!

As I sat in the sealing room watching Jessica and Devin promise themselves to each other for eternity, my heart brimmed with joy. What a beautiful thing marriage can be. And yet as an older, protective sister, I also felt a keen desire to somehow secure that my brother would find only happiness and fulfillment in his new family. I know that’s not possible, I have little influence on him, and marriage can be hard. Statistics show that. But, oh, how I hope that those looks of sheer adoring will remain on their faces for eternity.

He we are just shy of seven years from our wedding date, now with two little fellas to call our own.

In the vein of keeping it real- Scotland is being held up by Tom- and so appears taller than his 12 year old cousin Landen, because he was refusing to be in the picture, and Anders who has the place of honor in the groom’s arms, is keeping himself pacified by double fisting it- if one set of fingers isn’t good enough, try two!

My uber-talented sister, Brigette, made all the maxi skirts, as well as the ruffled white dresses for the little girls, and all the accessories . Yours truly made the little boys’ ties. Had I known how stylish Devin was going to be, I would have added suspenders to the mix!

I’ll post more picts when they come through.
