The final before and afters!

It’s sad, in a way, that right when we have our house as we like it, we are moving. But that was our intent when we bought it, so it feels as it ought. We set out to leave our mark on Cleveland in a positive and beautiful way. How crazy it is to think back on our moustached little foreclosure. Looking at these “befores” now, I wonder how we ever had the guts to tackle this unsightly old lady. How grateful we are now that our ignorance allowed us to make the leap. We’ve had a few stumbles, but it’s been worth every blister and tear.

The funny thing is that while, in some ways, the updates are quite drastic, we actually stayed true to alot of the original colors. The “green room” is still green. The “blue room” is still blue. The kitchen is still yellow. The colors have just been updated to their modern day equivalents. I really wanted to link back to all the posts, documenting the various stages. But then I thought. . . it might be more important to pack. You’re welcome to search them.
So, there she is, our little Lomond makeover.

  1. Oh, Kjirsti, I know how bittersweet this must feel for you. I felt such deja vu reading your post and remembering our first foreclosure makeover. Although, your original carpet was stellar! It definitely had ours beat in that department. Good luck with your move and congrats on the sale! You have done such a beautiful job turning a house into a home.

  2. I am truly impressed, the vision this took not to mention the hard work is amazing. Wonderful job you two.

  3. Kjirsti, uh, I think you can definitely add “interior decorator” to your resume. Seriously, you did a fantastic job! I am certain you and Tom will make another happy and beautiful home in Washington. So inspiring! – Katie Williams

  4. Wow! I had no idea how much work you put into your house! Every single room, all that carpet that you had to tear up, and all that awesome wallpaper that you dealt with. The previous owners had quite a sense of…uhhh…personal taste! It is gorgeous now and like Katie said, so inspiring! You are such talented people, transforming that house inside and out to a thing of beauty!

  5. I felt like I was looking through some website of how to do a flip right! This is so impressive. You and Tom are amazing!!! I mean, other than taking out that thick, green, mossy carpet, you got everything right. (wink, wink).
