Fall in Cleveland

With the thought that this is likely our last fall in Cleveland, I’ve felt a real desire to capture the fall experience here.

Scotland loves jumping in the HUGE leaf piles.

One of the things I love most about motherhood is modeling. I love that I showed Scotland the joy of walking through leaves, that I smiled as I threw leaves in the air, so he did too. I love that yesterday he came up enthusiastically to show me an acorn he had found on the ground, because the week before we had collected handfuls of them from a parking lot together. I believe that if I want my child to be a certain way, then I have to be that way. It’s the greatest challenge and greatest blessing of motherhood.

One of my favorite things is the evening light. It has the most golden hue.

Perhaps one of the things we will miss most is the Golden Ash Tree the grows in front of our house. It is one of the first trees to turn in the fall and its brilliant yellow is stunning. I hope I never forget the leaves falling like confetti.

There is plenty of work for all rounding up the leaves that gather on our corner lot. Sometimes I grumble about it, but once I’m out there I’m grateful for the opportunity to take in the crisp air and the beauty that surrounds.

I just had to post this one, because it shows how Scotland’s look is changing. He got another haircut yesterday. He has his Dad’s eyebrows!
