Home updates

My blog used to be as much about our house as it was about our family- back when our house was our baby. Now that we have Scotland, the house has fallen in priority, but I still fiddle around with it. Here’s a few recent updates:

Homemade chalk board in kitchen- Who knew you could mix plaster of paris with paint and create a chalk board! I love this. It gives the kitchen a whimsical quality, and I love how it pulls the black from the granite around to the kitchen nook.

Branch over bed- I’ve been meaning to do this for years. This branch isn’t perfection, but I still love it. The first few days I laughed everytime I saw it- it felt like a witches broom flying above our bed. But I like how it grounds the bed in the corner, and I as always, I love the natural element.

New mirror in masterbedroom ($6.00 at Value World!). I went back and forth on buying this mirror, and finally decided it had such character it would be a good piece, “just to have.” It fits this wall perfectly, and adds an elegance to our bedroom. It’s definitely a stretch for me- more ornate than I typically lean towards. I’m proud of myself for stepping outside of my normal mold and trying new things.
