Gardening

About two weeks ago, after several days of thinking about my summer garden plans, I had the thought, “I don’t have to do a garden.” The feeling was liberating in a strange, nearly silly way. I love gardening- I mean I wrote a whole blog about my garden last year, but somehow the affirmation that it was my choice was freeing. I told several people in the following two days that I might not have a garden this year. That I might just plant row after row of flowers instead. But then the sun came out and the dirt called. The beets, carrots, peas, and onions are in the ground, and three kinds of peppers, four kinds of tomatoes, and a variety of flowers and herbs are seeding happily downstairs under my grow light. I’m still itching to grow some more flowers from seed, I wish I knew now they would be successful and worth the work. Oh, faith!
