Oberlin- land of the snows

Oberlin adorned in her fleecy white robe.

We got more than a foot of snow on Monday, and it has continued to snow everyday for a couple hours since. I was walking home on Tuesday, and just started laughing at how hilarious everything looked. Bushes, held their snow like a new father holds his newborn baby, hesitantly, fearfully, and yet admiringly. The white roundedness of everything gave the town a cartoonish quality. While we have been too busy this week, Tom and I are excited about taking advantage of the snow and going cross country skiing next week. (I have those garage sale skis to try out!) So much for those tulips I saw coming up at my neighbors!

  1. I went out and worked in the yard Friday in a t-shirt, enjoying all the bulbs coming up and the new growth that I discovered as I cut back last years growth. Then yesterday we got a big storm and everything is covered. So Sad! I’m glad that you are as usual positive and making the most of your situation. I’m tired of the snow.
I have to tell you that yesterday I was painting Breck’s room a very very very bright aqua that she picked out. (Can you believe I’m relinquishing my control over color to let her make her room what she wants) Anyway, I remembered that the reason she chose aqua and red is because she loves you and remembers it from your wedding. I felt grateful to have such a wonderful sister who is so dearly loved, admired, and nearly worshiped by my little daughter. Thank you for being that kind of person for her.
    Love you

  2. Kjirsti,
    Thanks for the thought-provoking comments!
I agree with you on the Perfectionism idea—we cannot attain perfection in the earthly state we’re all in now, but life moves constantly towards God’s ultimate fulfilliment of His promise of everlasting life in heaven.
Jesus Christ definitely set the foundation for the Christianity we follow today. But, sometimes I wonder what God thinks of the divisions among Christians and the doctrinal/theological differences that have become such an issue. There is so much good that can be done with our faith in its simplest form—I think when we embrace those simple truths together, we can fully enjoy that true church, which He founded out of love for us, just as you noted on my blog ๐Ÿ™‚
    Thanks, Kjirsti ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I agree with Trevor, that does remind me of Narnia. It is such a beautiful shot. I remember snow. We actually talked about it in nursery today–teaching the kids about the seasons. How funny to teach kids in AZ about snow.
