Thus far, I’ve kept a positive perspective on my pregnancy weight gain. We don’t own a scale, so I’ve relied entirely on my OB appointments to track my “progress.” You can image my distress when last week the nurse weighing me in exclaimed as the scale leveled out: “Are you wearing heavy shoes or what?!” Okay, so I gained an extra pound and a half the past four weeks, big deal, my sweet tooth returned in time for Halloween- is that my fault!
I think I’ve come up with a good solution for my next appointment:

I love your pictures! The weight gain of pregnancy is hard to accept. I thought I’d be more accepting the 2nd time around, but I’m actually less so. Of course I know (and you do too) it’s inevitable and it shows the baby is growing and healthy, but it’s weight gain none-the-less. Fortunately it’s a lot easier to lose pregnancy weight than it is to lose other extra weight, you’ll be back to normal pretty quickly and, if not by the time the baby starts crawling, certainly once he starts walking and running.
Oh, just wait until you gain 8 lbs. in a week. You will want to cry yourself to sleep. But, don’t let the weight worry- it’s going to a good place. 😉
There always seems to be one visit where I am totally SHOCKED by my weight gain for that time period, but then it evens out. My doctor never says anything. I just love him to pieces!
Ah, yes. When I was pregnant with my first, it was also my first time to pass out Halloween candy. A word of advice: wait until the hour before Trick or Treat to buy the candy. I ate an entire bag of 3 Musketeer bars in 10 days and gained 10 POUNDS by the next OB visit.
