This week I performed in the CIM opera scenes program. I was in a three part scene from Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Patience.” It’s a comedic role with an aria and two duets, and several sections of dialogue. I haven’t done dialogue in years, so it was good to refresh those skills.
Mark Wanich was my Archibald Grosvenor
Kristen Shirkey was Lady Angela
And here are a bunch of the Twenty Love-sick maidens that were also in the first part of the scene with me.
I didn’t get any pictures, but I choreographed the can can in the finale. It was my first choreography project- but was complete with a lift at the end. It went over really well, and the 13 girls that volunteered to be dancers were great. (I even did the splits at the end!) Most importantly Mr. Bamberger, the opera director, loved it. It reminded me how much I enjoy teaching and directing.

You choreographed? That’s incredible!
