I’ve officially started my gardening blog: www.CravingDirt.com. I’m really excited about it! I sent out an e-mail to a large group of friends from church and was delighted at the feedback and the desire for participation. I’ve already been able to post two “Grower to Grower” posts featuring the gardening efforts of two friends. I love how the blog has made me analyze yards and gardens even more, looking for ideas and questions. I wish I had a bit more time to dedicate to the blog. As of yet I’m using the time from 11:00-12:00pm as my posting time, which isn’t really ideal. But the growing season has begun, and so must I!
I’m really excited about my interview section. In my head I imagine myself knocking on the door of a home with a particularly lovely garden, and asking the owner all sorts of questions and receiving tons of inspiring answers in response. I see myself taking pictures of their yard, at least with one of them sitting amongst their hard work. I hope I make their day!
I hope to visit local nurseries and feature their strengths and weaknesses.
I would love a plant identification section, where I post a picture of a plant I don’t know and then expert gardeners (who of course visit my blog regularly) can respond with an abundance of useful information.
And I hope my “Grower to Grower” section can be a forum where gardeners from around the world, but probably primarily North East Ohio, can share our successes and failures, ask questions, give suggestions etc.
I’ve been passionate about gardening for a long time. But I’ve only had my two sisters to share it with. When I blab on about my magnolia tree or need for alpaca manure, most people look at me with these strange confused eyes, as if to say “excuse me, what!” I then smile and awkwardly change the subject. Already I found some others who have the same desire to talk dirt- in the uplifting positive way!
Hurray!

Same old Kjirsti
Yeah Kjirsti! I am very excited about your new blog! I like the idea of the plant identification section – that is something that I need because I am always looking and plants and thinking, “I wonder what that is?” I have one particular one that is popping up that I cannot quite figure out the name of it. I’ll snap a picture of it for you when it blooms.
