So I have recently started to follow a blog called “A way to garden.” It is full of all things floral and I love it. I have so enjoyed seeing what is blooming in her garden that I thought I would go ahead and catalog what is blooming in my own garden. This growing season has brought some delightful surprises for me, because this is the first time I have ever seen the yard in spring.
Who knew that those unshapely bushes were actually bridal wreath spirea! I love them.
I still don’t know what kind of tree this is, but I just adore its delicate large blooms.
My pansiess are blooming like mad. They look rather small and insignificant all on their own alongside the driveway, but they are doing their best to fill their little spot of earth.
I thought I had pulled all of these out last summer. At that point they were just withered greenery. So when my friend mentioned it was lily of the valley I felt really bad. Well, no worries, this stuff has come up in abundance. The flowers are small but oh so charming.
Azelea’s grow beautifully in Cleveland. I adore the color of this one. I’m not a huge fan of the neon pink variety, nor do i really like the reddish orange ones- but I love this purplish-pink variety.
These are not the Strawberries that I planted but rather some wild ones that just grow in this bed of hosta, I won’t mind as long as they produce some beautiful berries!
Grandma and Grandpa had asked about the health of my little magnolia tree. Here it is. It didn’t bloom this year, but it is filling out with leaves, and I think after a stable year this year, it’s sure to have abundant blooms next year.
I have always adored dogwood trees. They remind me of home. We have one small and very fragile dogwood ont he corner of our house. I adore it.
All in all, I continually feel more blessed to have such a beautiful yard. The longer I live here, the greater my desire to meet the woman show shaped this place. I think we must have a lot in common. Tom has been teasing me lately about the fact that every night when he goes to lock things up every door is unlocked. Even during the day when were leaving the house he’ll go around and sure enough every door is open. I hadn’t thought about it until this evening, but I guess it goes way back. As a little girl, like age 8, I used to love to wake up and go out the front door and sit on the front steps. Just sit there and think for a little while. That tendency still lingers. Often the first thing I do after getting up is wonder outside to check on my plants. Walden pond sounds like a wonderful abode to me.
I want to add. I knew Pam (my mother-in-law) was really starting to get to know me when she sent me a card with a fishing pool and worms on the front for my birthday! (Thanks Pam, I loved it!)

I stumbled onto your blog from my wifes – what beautiful flowers. I love plants, I wish we had a yard of our own that we could put some in.
Do you have a sprinkler system? Or can you just count on the rain? Great pictures!
Beautiful yard. You have so much variety. Fantastic photos.
So beautiful! We just moved into a condo that has a patio, and the previous renter had tulips all over, I LOVED when they bloomed! I have also loved seeing what you guys have done to your house! Amazing, you have way more patience, than I would ever have! One of these days when we’re actually in Cleveland for more than two days, we’ll have to come hangout!!! I’m glad that things are going so well for you guys!
