Simple Delights

As Brecklyn said in the post below, “little things can change your day.” This week Tom and I have delighted daily over the progress of our seed garden. Two weeks ago we planted a bunch of seeds for FHE: tomatoes, peppers, rosemary, impatiens, daisies, eggplant and others. I checked everyday afterwards for life, and as promised about a week after we planted them we began to see little heads of green pocking through the soil. Now a week later we have a dandy collection of little fellows and I have set up a spot for them infront of a south facing window, and supplied them with a light for those gray days in Cleveland. We check them everynight and regardless of how tired and worn out I may be they always lift my spirits. Here are some pictures of our “little fellows:”

They started out like this. The syran wrap helps keep the moisture in as they germinate.

This was one of the first little sprouts!

Doesn’t this picture have an E.T. feel?

Check out those Romas- there is more than one set of leaves. Woohoo!

  1. We didn’t start from seed this year, but we did just plant our spring garden. In AZ you have to pick certain things to plant–all of the root type things have to wait until fall–so no carrots or potatoes, etc. But we did plant Roma tomatoes and zucchini and watermelon and cucumbers and rosemary, peppers and a tomatillo. Now, since we have no bees it seems, we’ll have to serve as the pollinators ourselves.
And, to answer your question, a family from the ward gave us the table. It’s very nice–cherry wood with four chairs. I wish it had more chairs, but it was free!
