Yesterday, I sang in the Messiah with the Harvest Presbyterian Church in Medina. I sang this gig last year and was thrilled to be asked back. I love the Messiah and last night I was reminded why. Singing “For Unto Us a Child is Born” and “Hallelujah” I am always overcome with emotion and gratitude for the majesty of my Savior. I love the tender Pastoral Symphony before my recits, as the orchestra plays the simple melody that so purely describes the manger scene. (Oh how I wish they didn’t use that most important reverent moment to pass around the money bowl.)
I was brought to tears in the final moments of the Hallelujah chorus as the brass, chorus, and audience all stood and sang in praise. I am so grateful for the chance I had to sing in the Messiah again this year, and I hope I can every year. as it is always the perfect means of sparking the true Christmas spirit in my heart.
