Finally a post of our freshly painted walls

I mentioned in the previous post that the Fam had helped us paint our living room. However, I didn’t really give you a very good glimpse of the final product. Hence this post:

Fortunately the lighting was beautiful this morning- Thanks to a good five inches of fresh snow outside. You get a much better feel for the color of the walls with the natural light. Actually, everytime I went to Sherwin Williams to look at colors I would take them to the window and the lady said twice “Well, you’re not going to be painting outside so bring your samples over to our lighting booth.” Sure that’s true to an extent, but we get a lot of natural light in our living room, one of the main reasons I feel in love with this house.

-Notice my new little nativity scene on the mantel!

You may be asking, where did you get the furniture. Well, we got it all for free. The two chairs came with those slipcovers from Angela, Tom’s coworker. And the couch was a Craig’s list find. They’re not great, but they do the trick for now!

Notice the Nativity that Mom and Dad gave us last Christmas. (The Wise Men and Shepherds are at different locals in the house, and are gradually getting closer each day- a tradition Tom and I started last year.)

So there you have it. We still have half of the other large window to paint. I’ll finish that Monday and then we can remove the blue tape. You may have noticed the orange foam oozing out from under the walls- we sprayed in some insulation to prevent some of the draftiness. It has helped a lot. Next step is baseboards and then maybe some pictures on the wall, and our piano moved from Oberlin!

  1. It looks beautiful! The fireplace looks very classy and I love the paint color. It is neutral and yet has a lot of warmth to it. Good choice! I hope you traveled safely and are enjoying your holidays!

  2. It looks amazing i can’t wait to see it in person. You must be so happy that it is finally painted!
