In preparing for my seminary lesson, I came upon this verse:
Luke 14: 13 “But when thou makest a feast, call the poor the maimed, the lame, the blind.”
My thoughts turned to my own Mother who I know will be inviting such to her Thanksgiving feast this year, as she always has. Thank you mother, for your beautiful example. I admire you.
Today in Sunday School we were covering the last few chapters of 3 Nephi and into 4th Nephi. The teacher made note of how this section of the scriptures is a beautiful case study of the Saviors teachings. What happened to those American people when they embraced the gospel: the scriptures teach us in 4 Nephi that after embracing the teachings of the Savior that there was no contention amongst them, but rather, there could not be a happier people among al the people who had been created by the hand of God. This statement was made by Mormon, who had read the records of all the peoples who had lived up that land. What a beautiful example of how our lives can be when we choose to live his teachings with exactness. It made me think, Am I happy, if not what am I not doing, that the Lord would have me do that would help me be so? For as a daughter of God who has a full knowledge of the living reality of Heavenly Father and Christ I have ever reason to rejoice and be happy!
