Sleep and productivity

Often when I awake for Anders’ early morning feeding I think: Maybe I’ll just stay up and get a bunch of things done! The idea excites me, and I’ll have a swell of energy that for a while exceeds the weight in my lids and teasing headache. Then I’ll remember that adequate sleep results in a happy, patient, creative mother; while the lack thereof often leads to. . . well something else! So I’ll head back to bed, knowing full well that doing so means that those things on my to do list will remain there, yet a few days/weeks longer.
Sigh!

  1. I remember thinking the exact same thing. Sigh. I think so much about motherhood is pacing and patience. Sending lots of love your way.
p.s. I just read “bringing up bebe” and could empathize with your parenting post. The french seem to have their parenting built into their culture, which I am sort of envious of. You are a fabulous mother and I think its okay and healthy to acknowledge that we don’t always know what to do, especially in transitional periods when new issues are arising. Its tricky but I have complete faith that you will find something that works for Scotland.
