Happy Independence Day!

Two patriots!

Highlights of our Fourth of July:

-BBQ with the Shuldburg’s at Carkeek Park

-Flying the kite on the beach

-Playing croquet

-Firework display at Gas Works

-The crowd joining in to sing “I’m proud to be an American!” (I nearly teared up.)

-The ending spectacle to “God Bless America.” (I couldn’t help but say my own little prayer of “Yes God, please help America, we really need You right now!” but even more so, “Please America, take back God, you need Him!”

I’m proud to be an American. As I explained to Scotland the significance of the holiday, talked about the Flag and our forefathers, I felt a reverence for this country, my country. Traveling to China highlighted many things that I hadn’t appreciated enough about the United States, as well as made me aware that some of the values that have made America inspirational in the past are fading away in the general populace. I have great hope for our country, and feel a renewed committment to do my part as a mother and citizen to keep this country great.
