Choppedy-choppedy

You may have noticed in yesterday’s blog pictures I got a new haircut. I only get my haircut about every six months so it’s always kind of a big deal. Last time I got a very drastic cut, I went in with this picture:

Danielle at La Bella della Rose, really wanted to make me blonde, but the pocket book wouldn’t have it. I’m happy with the results. She gave me way more layers than I’ve ever had. Which definitely results in a “new” look, which is fun. Though, if I tuck it behind my ears it can look a bit mullet-y. But over all I think it’s going to be really great. She emphasized that I needed shorter lighter layers so I could get the lift and texturing I was hoping for. I really love this salon. I’ve had both Teri and Danielle cut my hair, and like both. I love that each time it’s been like a personal hair consultation. Danielle taught me several blow drying tricks, and even watched me round brush it so she could give me some tips. She suggested I blow dry the top front portion of my hair forward so I get more lift when I put it back- and it works wonders! They tend to be product pushers- which I both appreciate and dislike. The fact is, the products work. The problem is, they cost money. I don’t tend to buy hair products, because I’m cheap thrifty so I’ve acutally been grateful they sort of pushed me into buying some things, because I end up being happier with the haircut- when I can recreate it at home. I bought Redkin’s  Aerate, and Wool shake. They’re both pretty awesome!

Other beauty tips she gave me: You always need one wet product and one dry (eg. mousse and hairspray)

I need to use WAY more root spray than I normally do.

Round brushes have come a LONG way- I really need a new one.

If I use enough product and a round brush I don’t need to tease my hair.

If I want my hair to look like that picture- I need to color it. Darn!
