Bedroom continued

Our master bedroom is a slowly developing. Our latest update is that we stained our headboard and foot board in  a rich brown mahogany. This was a fun upgrade because Tom and I did it together. I stained it and he applied the polyurethane. I love it when we both feel the same sense of accomplishment when a project is finished. Here’s a quick before:

And after:

We’re still looking for something to hang above the bed, and for some swing arm wall sconces for either side of the bed.

I must make a comment. I was back and forth with whether I liked the white curtains. I’m not much of a curtain person, I tend to prefer the crisp cleanliness of white trimmed windows against the wall, but we bought these for practical reasons- and I have loved them! I love that I can pull them shut at night and they block out enough light and give us privacy but still allow the breeze to flow in and the light to shine in in the morning. I love that during the afternoon they offer privacy but don’t cut out the light. I like how they glow when the light plays through, and I love the way they dance and twirl with the breeze. Brecklyn said over and over how much she loved white curtains. I realize why more and more everyday!
