We had our chimney cleaned and bought a screen, and enjoyed our first fire of the season with real wood!
Here’s the screen- it’s not exactly the perfect screen but it was much cheaper than the ones we liked better on line- and we were able bring it home from Lowes and try it out.
One of the projects I have appreciated the most is closet revamp. Before there was a rod where I hung my shirts that extended from the board that you can see has been cut off- the one that supports the shelf to the left of the picture. As a result I had to sort of shimmy in to see the clothes in the back and the entire space where my shirts now hang was empty- basically useless because I had to climb under my clothes to get there- not to mention there was a large beam sticking out that I often hit my head on. Now the closet is officially a walk-in, we can change in there, and I can see all my clothes with out suffering a large bruise on my head!
We added this smaller rod at the back= that way I can hang my longer pants and dresses!
I dug up by Dahlias and Cannas and now this bed is looking VERY bare- embarrassingly naked. What should I do- I have at least 6 more months before anything live will grow again? Any suggestions- what should I plant and where?
Cannas
After allowing myself to get a bit to wrapped up in singing this past week- and all the emotions that go with it, I decided I need to take a step back and “round myself out.” So, when both of my Friday classes were canceled I figured that was a sign that I should just take the day off school. I spent the entire day outside. It was gorgeous, 60 degrees and sunny. I raked leaves, cut down dead plants, dug up my cannas and dahlias to preserve for next spring, transplanted the vine that was still doing so well from my window boxes into a different pot where it could be shown off, and I moved a patch of parsley into the sun room to preserve for the winter months. OH, how I love gardening days!
I’ve also started a few new “crafty” type projects. One of them must stay unrevealed as it involves Christmas gifts, but the other is that I bought this fabric- perhaps to make a pillow for the living room, or perhaps for curtains in the kitchen. What do you think?
I’ve been realizing that my house lacks pattern and often texture. So this fabric is an attempt to bring a bit more energy to my very calm house.
