So it’s official. I’m passionate about flowers. People often laugh when I tell them how excited I am that I found a crocosmia at my local nursery, or that I’m thrilled that my tomatoes are ripening (We’ve already harvested about eight!). Why the need to make it official? I’ll tell you.
Somehow, despite others’ surprise, I never struggled to see singing as a legit and worthy career path. However, after summers of preparing our front flowerbeds for wedding receptions, the thought crossed my mind that perhaps I should go into Botany or landscape design. It left just as quickly. However, several months ago when a friend asked me what other careers I might have pursued had I not chosen singing, the memory arose. This time it seemed more praiseworthy.
I don’t think I will ever make a career out of my love of flowers. In fact, I hope I don’t. That way it can always remain my special retreat. I could quite happily spend the majority of most days amongst my budding friends. Here’s an update of how things are looking around here.
I hesitate to say I wanted to be a landscape designer and post this picture on the same post. But, alas! I post this just to laugh at myself. I grew the three zinnia plants you see from seed. Little did I know that they were the TALL variety. I thought they were going to be small little mounds! This whole bed hasn’t quite turned out as planned. Oh well, if I had all the money in the world it would be different, but for now, it’s going to have to do with Lowe’s clearance plants.
My other front bed is finally starting to bloom. It’s starting to fill in!
I love the way my black-eyed susan and guara mix together.
Here is my favorite plant. The crocosmia is the plant in the middle with the bird like flowers. Here’s a close up:
Are these not sassy?! Just look at this picture for a while and you will start to see all sorts of creatures.
