Tom arrived last night, and my week of work ended, we leave for Boston to see our new Nephew Archer, and his proud parents, Cassie and Doug and delighted grandmother, Pam.
All in all, I think the week was a success. Here are my most proud accomplishments:
-Pruning- just shaping things up for the summer
-Front flowerbeds, assembled in a much more elegant and attractive manner. I also moved the flagstone steps to the water spicket, which had caused me much needless woes concerning the symmetry of my bed. Silly me, just move them!
-Taught two great lessons. (Can I just tell you how much I adore teaching.)
Sang everyday
-Painted all the trim, and the soon-to-be installed baseboards.
-Turned the unusable drawer above the stove into a shelf with a hinge where I can store the dish clothes and hand towels. (See below)
-Put all my decorating things in order. (Both my visiting teachers and one of my students commented on how changed everything looks, why? because I finally decorated. It’s sparse but it’s coming together.
I finally moved the watercolor to it’s correct place. (left wall) I also placed our “Foutz: loyal to God and each other” plack that we were given as a wedding present in the fireplace, I actually set it there just to put it some place but I might leave it. The rug really ties things together I think. (gotta love garage sales: Pier 1 rug for $40!)
Front entrance
Music hutch. I love the Mexican plate there in the middle. This hutch is currently just primed, I think I am going to paint it brookside moss. (see below) what do you think?
My newest addition to my piano art, is the stick on the right. I pruned it from one of my trees yesterday and just thought it was so interesting I had to keep it, I love it coupled with the glass candel!
These two wood countainers saddle my favorite chest. I’m thinking about growing a succulent in the wood “pot” on top, but then I think maybe I should fill it with some of the neat potpurri they have these days. What’s your vote?
This picture is for Sabina, to show her the placement of my little chair. It’s not ideal, but I wanted to create the piano room as it’s own space.
Two things on this one. First I’m thinking of making some curtains out of the above fabric. Brigette, Sabina and I picked it out in Utah and I think I’m going to go with it. It has more pink/coral in it than I had planned on, but it looks great with my red chairs and it has great energy.
Second, here’s the faucet I have told some of you about. My dear friend Hailey, the secretary at the music school where I worked, her husband works for Moen and he brings home faucets that have slight defects, and then gives them away free. Hailey and I had oft discussed our varied home improvement efforts and one day she said, “Hey do you guys need any faucets?” Thanks Hailey- isn’t it beautiful. (Not to mention so much easier to wash large pans under!)
