Blogging: a way of taking responsibility for time

Last summer I used my blog as a way of motivating me to really make the most of each day. I think it was fairly successful, so I am going to try to take the same approach this summer. So here’s a little report of what I’ve been able to do thus far:

It’s hard to see what’s going on here, I guess. But here’s the garden thus far.

-I went ahead and planted my veggie garden, well at least I planted everything that I had grown from seed. The tomatoes were getting out of hand, and I thought they would be better in the ground than flopping over on my kitchen table. (Not to mention they were driving me crazy because they would fall of the pan and spill dirt all over the floor everytime I tried to move them outside to “harden off.”) I’m pretty proud of my little garden. So far I have three rows of mixed greens, 7 pea plants, two rows of spinach, ten tomato plants of four varieties, three pepper plants, and three/five eggplants. (3/5 because I went ahead and planted the little tiny guys that were in the same pot as one of the large ones.) I have one rhubarb plant coming up, and I planted 7 strawberry plants. I planted a raspberry bush, that isn’t doing so hot, and my asparagus haven’t come up. I’m afraid the ground I planted them in was just too hard. Now I just need to buy the latice so we can grow our zucchini and summer squash!

Little rhubarb plant.

-I cleaned up the basement. Tom and I cleaned and primed our pantry downstairs and it is now stocked. The washing machine and dryer are free from their drywall dust, and the utility sink could actually now serve as a place to clean clothes.

-I fixed up the 1/2 bath, straightening the light switch and outlet, and fixing various places were the texturing needed help. Hopefully tomorrow I can prime over the places I fixed and then paint! (I think I’ve decided to paint the bathroom the same yellow as the kitchen. I thought about doing green or something wild like red. But I already have lots of yellow paint, and it will hopefully make the room feel a little larger.)

-I’ve done lots of laundry. Actually short story, Tom and i had both run out of garments and I rounded up all the dirty ones to wash and was surprised to find only a small number. I couldn’t figure out where the others could be. I washed the few that I had found, and continued to try to figure out where the others could be. Well it turned out our laundry shoot was completely plugged and the entire thing was full from the basement to the second floor- oops!

-I sold 25 t-lets! Ordered business cards for Getti’s Accessories, and got some good ideas for ways to keep my end of the business going.

-I ran 4 miles twice this week, and am planning on running 6 either tomorrow or Saturday. Half marathon here I come!

-I have some great singing practices and attended three recitals.

Okay, enough of that. Things have been great and most importantly, I’ve been very happy!
