This is one of the two end tables Tom and I found at Goodwill a few days ago. We literally stopped in, saw these, and bought them within five minutes. They were five dollars each! You just can’t turn that down.
Here’s a pictures of the couch we bought on Craig’s List. Amongst all the stuff and junk in our overly full garage. (Thank goodness tomorrow is trash day)
Here’s Tom grinding off the screws on the security doors. Personal fireworks
I have taken a wall downstairs each day and scrubbed all the mold off of it. I’m not crazy about the yellow color, but I can sure appreciate the cleanliness. We’ll eventually paint the walls, and probably the floor.
Unfortunately with two walls done, my job is far from over. Here is a sampling from the wall in this pantry. Luckily three of the walls in this pantry are wood and aren’t moldy.
It’s hard to tell in this picture, due to the lighting, but I am thrilled to say that my magnolia is in full bloom. Leaves are sprouting out on every branch, and the once wind stripped top is bursting with life!
Here is a better shot of the after (without awnings and trees). Isn’t that a gorgeous house!? Can you believe Tom and I own that? Weird.
In case you have noticed this rogue tree and wondered what on earth our thoughts were on leaving it- well, that’s this year’s Christmas tree. We figured we could leave it until December!
Here’s a pict. of my pruning job yesterday. The plant on the right used to be completely surrounded by a ground cover that than ran down into the ground cover in the front, it was just too much for me, so I it out. I left a touch on the right side. We’ll see if I leave it. Does anyone know what kind of tree that is in the back left?
I realized I have never taken a picture that captures the quaint appeal of our sunroom. It was one of the features that sold me on this house, not to mention one of my favorite aspects of Ohioan homes in general- they almost all have sunrooms! I love the little stone path leading to the brick steps and finally the skinny little door. (That is currently caulked shut? What!) Also, notice our balcony over head. Tom read me shakespear from it today!
Here is a picture of our back step. Things to notice, the newly clean railing. (Thank you, thank you) Also the beautiful door knobs. See below also. Yes we’ll paint the door, plant flowers in the pots, and replace the broken glass in the top left pane (where the sticker is).
My latest pot finds. The left from an estate sale, the right from goodwill. Accompanied from the plants I received from Mary for my Senior recital, now happily divided!
Oh, how I look forward to a clean garage!
Tom installed door knobs and deadbolts on all our exterior doors. He did a tremendous job, they look beautiful and work smoothly. (Who knew that putting in a door knob was so much work. Chisel anyone?)
It turns out the texturing on our ceiling was done over cheese cloth, so you can just pull it off in strips. What a delight. I wasn’t fond of the texturing, so I am thrilled that I will now so easily have a fresh smooth ceiling.
Our “living” room.
From chinsey gold to glamorous bronze.
With tape and syran wrap I sufficently covered all the glass and spray painted all my light fixtures. I am exstatic about the results. I used restoleum’s hammered spray, which gives a neat texture that enhances the final product even more. (See below)
The electricians are still here. We still don’t have lights or electricity in most of the house. They’ll have been here a week tomorrow. When will they be done- how we wish we knew! Tomorrow is my last carefree day. Friday I start orientation, and Monday- school. I better get to bed so I can rise early!
