My sister introduced me to liatris this year. She planted six in my yard. They’re a great perennial, that offers as much with their poky greenery as they do in their firework-like vertical blooms. They’re native of North America, and I’ve noticed that the city of Cleveland has used them extensively in their gardens along the new Euclid median- always a good sign, it means they’re hardy. You can purchase them as plants, or as corms. I highly recommend them, especially in groupings. They offer great height, delightful texture, and beautiful color.
Up close they could almost be related to the sea anemone.
