Dogwoods (dogwood cornus features above) have to be one of the most delicate trees. If they were human they would be that girl who is simply beautiful and never wears makeup. In my hometown of Moses Lake, WA, dogwoods have to be nursed along and grow ever so slowly. I was shocked to find them growing wild along roadsides here in Ohio.

My little dogwood is tucked into the corner of my house. It gets protection from the wind there. It isn’t a particularly fast grower. It seems shy, but boy are her blooms buoyant!
