Peony Cages

I was walking past the Cleveland Botanical Gardens the other day when I noticed they had already created cages for their peonies. I was quick to follow suit. (Can I just say I love taking hints from the professional landscapers. It’s a great trick, pay attention to when your neighbor’s landscaping service starts cleaning out leaves, fertilizing the lawn, planting impatiens and the like.) Peonies have such large blooms that the body of the plant can’t support them. As a result, too often those gorgeous big blooms end up face down in the mud. Creating some support can help prevent this. You can buy cages, or if you’re cheap like me, you can make your own!
