Conversations with Scotland

I love that Scotland carries on conversations now. He also comes up with funny observations.
Last week he was out visiting teaching with me. Mary started asking him a few questions. At one point she asked, “Are you a big boy?”
Scotland looked at her for several moments- with his big open-eyed thinking face and then said, motioning to himself “Tiny boy.”
When she seemed not to understand he said, “Big Mamma.” He then went on to repeat his point one more time. “Tiny boy, big momma.”

Today, Scotland stopped while we were playing, and looking down at my black-nyloned feet, said “Cool Toes!”

I put Scotland down for a nap today, and told him I would bring him back a drink. I promptly forgot. After twenty minutes of him just playing around in his crib I went in and asked “How come you’re not sleeping?! Do you need a diaper change?” He lay on his tummy amongst his stuffed friends, his feets swinging in the air, and looked at me matter-of-factly and said “I just wanna drink!” I apologized for my forgetfullness, brought him a drink, and he went right to sleep. He’s a patient boy.

Yesterday, I was attending to a bunch of paper work. Scotland kept asking me to play and I assured him I would love to as soon as I finished the task at hand. He waited around a while, but when he realized it was going to take longer than he had hoped he headed downstairs and started calling: “Daddy play? Momma workin’”

A few weeks ago for FHE we made marshmellow and toothpick creations. Scotland LOVED it. For some reason he kept calling the marshmallows “tiny muffins.” Whenever we talk about FHE he’ll say “muffins and tiny sticks?”
