19 Months- Scotland

Lately, Scotland has started pairing sticking his tongue out and difficut tasks. Today, however, he was just being silly.

Scotter picked up my cold. The last few days I’ve been savoring long stretches on the rocking chair- cuddled together reading books.

The other day we ran into Cody and Jen at the library, when they saw each other they each yelled the other’s name- and started running around the stacks yelling like wild Indians. Jen and I stopped them telling them they needed to use their quiet voices in the library. They stopped, thought about it, then took off yelling again. They are BEST friends.

Jen watches Scotter when I teach, and then we’ve started doing home repair swaps. We also take turns with date nights. The end result is that these boys get together five days a week- if you count nursery. They LOVE it, and play together so well. I never expected Scotland to have a best friend so young. He asks about “Co” everyday. Cody is the reason for his obsession for “Choo-choos” and jumping. He’s also helped him gain more of an interest in letters. (Now whenever he sees letters he’ll point and say “E?” – He doesn’t really know E.)

Scotland LOVES his car (Thanks Lauren, Bryce and Dallin!) He most used words are Mommy, Daddy, Car (cah-oo), Truck and Choo-choo. He knows Mommy has a car and daddy has a truck.

“But the running boy is inside every man, no matter how old he gets.” Mitch Albom The Five People you Meet in Heaven.

Scotland is officially a runner. We go for a run around the block every day. He loves to stop every few paces, get on his “mark” and  say “tee tee tee Go!” (One, two, three, Go!) He also likes to race down everyone’s driveway. He usually asks me to join him. If there are puddles he splashes in them. If there are dogs we stop, pet the dog and chat with its owner. Often we’ll start these “walks” on his bike, but it always turns into a run.

Memories from this month:

  •
    • Scotland dancing with Dance, Dance Revolution at Debbie’s Party
    • Scotland kneeling down in perfect prayer in Nursery for the first time (and now everytime we go for a walk- I guess the people he sees in his Book of Mormon Stories book are always praying outside!) He’s started to talk when he prays- one time saying, Mommy, Daddy.
    • Playdough
    • Bouncing on the ball with Scotland to his bubbling giggles
    • Watching him melt stranger’s hearts with his blown kisses
    • “Flying” with Dad
    • Belly flopping on the grass with Cody and cracking up
    • “Puff” all over his room- He tore a hole in his Owl. Now he likes to pull out all the batting and throw it around his room during his nap.

I can’t get enough of his chocolate chip eyes.
