Poppa and Grandma Foutz!

Last weekend Poppa and Grandma Foutz were here. We had a wonderful time. I was thrilled with the opportunity to revel in the sweetness and cuteness of my child without fearing I was boasting. It was so wonderful to see him so loved. It made me even more sure that moving west is the best plan. It was a gorgeous weekend weather wise. Pam and Stan visited the Holden Arboretum while I was at rehearsal Saturday morning. Then when we got back we headed over to the art museum to see the Rembrandt exhibit- which was spectacular (all you Clevelanders- don’t miss it!).

I don’t know why I love this picture so much. I guess just the comparison in size between my two favorite people!

We enjoyed some delicious Indian food at Indian Flame. And some authentic Cleveland food from Hot Sauce Williams.

Poppa took Scotland on at least five bike outings a day. (Thanks for raising the bar Stan, now Scotland thinks everytime I go outside I’m gearing up to take him out on his bike! wink.)

Monday we hit the trails at South Chagrin metropark.

And later enjoyed Chagrin Falls.

We celebrated Tom’s birthday on Monday- big 32!

It felt so much more celebratory having Tom’s parents here. We had take out for dinner and flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Tom’s big gift was a keyboard case for his IPad.

We felt especially lucky to have Pam here for Mother’s day. Tom treated she and me to fancy crepes Sunday morning, and we enjoyed a delicious spring risotto with angle food cake and strawberries for dinner. (Why is it that I associated fruity desserts with Mother’s day and chocolate with Valentines day?) It was fun to be able to celebrate it with Pam- the more the merrier is definitely true.

The weekend was just another reminder of how blessed I am. I love my in-laws. Despite the fact that Tom had to work half of Saturday and all of Monday and Tuesday, it wasn’t awkward in the least to hang out with them all day. Their sense of adventure and yet chill personalities make for easy guests.

Pam and Stan, thanks for coming out. We miss you.
