The Big Reveal!

So, I’ve hesitated to post this because it isn’t the FINAL reveal. But it is certainly the biggest reveal so here you go.

These pictures are actually quite lovely. You can’t tell how grody the countertop actually is. I took these the morning before the granite installation. After looking at them, I had an internal freak out moment. The kitchen looks lovely, why are we getting granite? We made a terrible mistake!

These show some more of the gritty details. Unfortunately, I can’t capture the nasty smell these countertops gave off anytime you cleaned them. Strange!

Then we added these gorgeous granite countertops. (Black Ubatuba)

They were beautiful but I was still a little worried that they didn’t offer the “WOW” effect I was hoping for.

I needn’t have worried. That came when we finished off the beadboard backsplash! (Thanks Tom, for the best Valentines present ever!)

Note the absence of the milk box. Though I was sad to see it go, because of the heritage it marks on our house, its removal really classes up the kitchen.

As you can see we’re still trying to decide on paint colors. I’m leaning toward the bottom one (next to the beadboard). We are also going to make glass cabinet doors for the open cabinets. I need to poly the backsplash, and decide on curtains. (What do you think of the fabric I have pinned up there?)

It’s amazing to think what we accomplished in a week. Most of the credit goes to Tom who took a day off work on Thursday to purchase tha materials and to cut out all the beadboard. We finished it off together Saturday morning as part of our Valentines day celebration. We’re in love.

What do you think?
