Good is sometimes the best

One of the points in “The Happiness Project” that struck me the strongest was the realization that sometimes waiting to do the best thing results in not doing at all. I made bread for my neighbors on Tuesday. It’s now Thursday at 10:00 and I’ve yet to deliver it. Why? Because I’m always waiting for that “best” time, when Tom can come with me, when the neighbors will be home, when I’ll have time to chat and catch up. Considering our schedule the next few days they will never get delivered if I wait for all these things to compile into one moment. So tomorrow, I’m taking them- whenever I can.
The same thing holds true with cards. Of course it would be lovely if I could get the card ready, write in it, have Tom write in, and have Scotland scratch in it. But it’s better to actually send the card on time.
Maybe I’m bowing to mediocrity. I’ll call it reality!

  1. I loved what the Madsens posted on their blog yesterday, that they’ve adopted as a new family motto:
“If you wait for perfection, you will never achieve AWESOMENESS.”
