A couple of weeks ago I was feeling a bit lonely, it was a pity-party sort of week. I had spent the majority of my free time painting my basement, and while that brought a certain amount of satisfaction I needed something else- people. I determined that I wouldn’t let the same thing happen the next week, last week. So I set out to be more social. Sunday night I celebrated my friend Megan’s birthday, and she, Claire and I stayed up late talking the night away. Monday I ran with Meg. Tuesday I taught a voice lesson, then spent the afternoon shopping with Mary. Wednesday I had dinner with Myrtle, and enjoyed Girl’s night with a bunch of friends from church. Thursday I went to the beach with Mary, Sarah, Janelle, Kara, and Jennifer, and then spent that evening at Book club. Friday I ran with Meg and Claire again, then enjoyed driving up to Kirtland with my friend Annette to sing at the Kirtland Temple. I didn’t get as much done last week, but I felt so happy. I wasn’t constantly checking my phone for e-mails or blog updates- I had real people to check in with. As independent as I may be, as content as I may feel to stick to myself, I need people. I have been blessed with so many dear friends in Cleveland. They’re as close to sisters as a girl can get, and I’m grateful.

Your entry reminds me of a quote I really like from President Monson: “Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved.”
