Foutz Family visit

This past weekend we were lucky enough to be visited by Poppa Foutz,  Aunt Cassie, Uncle Doug and Cousin Archer. They came out for Scotland’s blessing. Despite illness shared by all (except Scotland and I), we had a wonderful visit. The highlight of the trip was just seeing each of the family members interact with Scotland. Stan was such an adoring grandpa. I felt so bad when he got sick and couldn’t hold Scotland, because I know it just killed him. As a bit of a side note, I want to note for my own memories sake, how impressed I was with Stan. Despite very little sleep both before and during his visit, he was active all day taking care of Archer and Cassie, helping around the house, and holding Scotland. He commented on what a delight it was for him to be able to care for his two grandsons. I was so impressed by how freely he gave to each of us. I saw a new side of him, a side that I have so often seen and appreciated in Tom.

Archer arrived with a bit of a cold so unfortunately this is about as close as we let him get to Scotland. I would have loved a better picture of the two cousins, but this will have to suffice for now. Archer had the cutest way of saying “baby Scotty.” He was definitely aware that the attention once given solely to him was being shared with Scotland, but seemed to take it well. At one point when we were in the car, Scotland rustled under his car seat cover and Archer said, “Baby Scotty!” I told him, “Scotland is sleeping!” Archer looked at the car seat then back at me and then closed his eyes and fell asleep. They’re going to be buds!

Cassie was the sweetest Aunt. She had this uncanny ability to get Scotland to smile. I enjoyed talking about all things baby with her and getting lots of ideas and advice for the future.
