Scotter will be 14 months a week from tomorrow. Here’s his latest:
-saying tuh, tuh, tuh while he wiggles his fingers and tickles you
-saying buh buh buh while he “beeps” your nose
-saying “AH” as he holds out a cheerio, piece of bread, etc to feed you
-says “hah, hah” and waves his hand back and forth to say “Hot.”
-Signing: please, hot, hungry, all done
-fake laughing, fake crying, fake coughing
-loves shoes- he’ll often bring me a pair to put on him. (We tried on four pair yesterday)
-immitating- Today I had him in nursery with me, since Tom had to work. We were singing “This is the way we fold our arms. . .” and as he watched all the kids do it- so did he! (I can never get him to fold his arms.) We sang it again tonight before bed and he folded them again! We had Bryce and Dallin here on Tuesday and Wednesday and they and I were having a balloon fight. Scotland quickly learned how to pinch the balloons so they would “shoot off.”
-Taking commands
-sharing
-I only nurse him before bed now
-He continues to be an excellent eater. Today it was kale!
-He loves his babysitter: Jen. He gets so excited when he sees her at church. (He kept giving her “loves” today, since she was sitting by us.) He has yet to make a fuss when I drop him off at her house. He also loves Clark, Jen’s husband. Last week he was sitting next to us and Scotland was having the best time tickling him. Thanks Madsen’s you are the best!
-can’t get enough of the outdoors. Yesterday it was rainy, but I was determined to get some mulch down. I invited Tom and Scotland out and we all worked for a bit getting wet and muddy. Scotland helped hold the buckets.
-He’ll often begs for baths- he’ll walk into the bathroom and point and say “uh uh uh!”
-rituals. Every morning when I go get him, he’ll jump to his feet and walk over to the window by his bed and try to pull up the blind, as soon as I come over he’ll run over to the other side of the crib and point at the other window for me to lift the blinds. Then we always look out the window for a while. (He always checks to see if the neighbors’ dogs are sitting in the window.)
-points out birds, squirrels, dogs from the window or stroller seat
-he’s starting to show a bit more of an interest in books, a bit, not much. Hmmm.
One response to “Milestones- almost 14 months”
Don’t worry about the interest in books. It’s about his age where it starts to appear, or at least that’s where all my kids started showing an interest. Lincoln now loves books, but he’s very particular about which ones he will sit and listen to for the entire thing. He always asks for two specific books, Over in the Garden (which is funny because other than this book, he doesn’t really like us to sing) and Bedtime at the Swamp. The older kids are kind of getting tired of these two because we read them about 10 times a day now!
