Here’s Scotter’s latest:
-emptying baskets, bins, shelves, and drawers of their contents.
-digging in the trashcan, eating out of the trashcan. (We may have a Freegan on our hands!)
We keep Grandma’s Nativity on the low shelf of this tea cart- Scotter loves to crawl on top to play
-carrying around small objects for long periods of time: Scotter loves little objects that fit in his hand. His latest obsession is the manger from Grandma’s Nativity. He will carry it around for hours, sliding it along the floor when he crawls. We’ve found that little manger in his crib, in the onion/garlic basket, on the shelf with the tupperware. .. Sometimes if the objects are larger he will slide along on his elbow and forearm on one side so he can keep hold of his prized possession. At Jen’s house he loved carrying around the “Warm fuzzies.”
-Walking. He’s finally taking a real interest in walking. When you go to set him down, he wants to be on his feet- which of course requires you to still hold him. He’ll lead with his belly and start taking off. He knows how to change direction, and walks at different speeds. Some days he is more upright than others.
-He loves the Christmas tree, and to my delight hasn’t tried to pull it over once! Nor has he grabbed at the ornaments. He’s removed a couple of the tags from the presents under the tree, but hasn’t tried to tear them open.
-The other day we watched a squirrel out the window. He laughed as it stood on it’s hind legs, and scampered up the tree.
-Smiling. He continues to be very generous with his smiles. He’s always very popular with people in line at the grocery store- or, especially, JoAnns.
-Eating. He’s a great eater. He prefers to eat what we’re eating (which has definitely helped me focus on making more healthy meals) He ADORES my whole wheat bread. When I bring out a slice he’ll wave his arms and squeal.
-He likes to climb the stairs, but is still very nervous to go down.
-Happy even when tired. The last two nights he was up way past his bedtime (which is 6:30 these days.) We had our play dress rehearsal on Thursday and the performance yesterday. I was worried he would be a wreck, but he was happy-crawling around taking in the chaos.
-Loves opened doors. The minute I open any kind of door- cabinet, oven, dishwasher, bathroom- he’ll come crawling- FAST! He cries when I close it before he can come and explore its contents. Working in the kithen with him is getting more difficult as a result.
-Chatty. He’s very chatty, though more so with me, than with others. He’s usually quiet in a group.

How fun to see him explore and learn more about the world.
