As if I need another project. . .

My visiting teachers came over today. One of them recently illustrated a book. We were talking about that process when I brought up that I draw comics. Then of course they wanted to see them. So I pulled out the laptop and showed them a few. They were both so complimentary and supportive and encouraged me to make something more of them. I sent my manuscript of 60+ cartoons to Deseret Book about a month ago, but it takes 8-10 days to hear back, so I still have a while. (Doesn’t stop me from eagerly sifting through the mail everyday.) The fact is, I don’t really think Deseret Book is going to publish my work. So after their kind support I got online again to search pregnancy comics. Again, I found next to nothing. Then I searched pregnancy cartoons- and voila, tons, or at least many more. I still think I have a certain niche. Most of the ones I saw were written by men, or were the calloused mom type. Anyway, I found out that there are stock cartoon sites, where multiple different cartoonist post their cartoons, and people can come to buy them. Basically depending on what you plan to use the comic for, you pay a different price. Say $30.00 to publish the comic on a flyer, etc. How awesome would that be! (Assuming they accept my line) I could create comics at will, edit them to be marketable, submit them and the site manager would take care of the rest. Then I might just see my comics on a website or t-shirt and then receive a little check in the mail. Amazing!
