2011 Spring Garden

As a gardener it’s helpful to document each season so that you can make plans for next year. For that reason, and because my sisters requested, here’s a few quick shots I took of my yard this morning:

Both the beds pictured above and below were just planted last year. Man, I love how well things grow in Ohio! Can you believe those phlox were just tiny little slips last spring?

Finally our grass is starting to really fill in and look lush.

My clematis is coming back with gusto. Notice the little handmade trellis. I just love it!
The pot on the angle is my lemon thyme, transplanted hostas in the larger pot on the right.

I see these stairs out my kitchen window, amongst other things- that I chose to leave out of the picture. Again I transplanted some Hosta, some day lily-like grasses, and I planted some dahlia and canna bulbs I over wintered. The tan pot features chives- our neighbors suggested I care for them- so as to keep them alive. The green in the front left are my peas. The bare earth in the middle will host some form of veggie- peppers and tomatoes probably.

My side bed isn’t quite filled in yet. I moved the H. grass over here, as it has more shade than where it was previously. More hostas in the pots.

Sabina, can you believe this bed? To think those were all cheap home depot plants just a year ago!

I love the way the door color goes with the terra cotta pots.

  1. I love it. I’d rather call you and chat about everything. I can’t believe how everything has filled in. Is your dogwood ok?
