Scotter

This isn’t the best picture but it’s a cute subject so I posted it anyway. Here’s Scotland at 9 weeks.

This week:

  • Scotland has started playing with toys! He’ll grab at them, smile at them, and even squeal when he sees them. Yesterday he grabbed his little elephant and stuck it in his mouth. Later, when I peeked back to see how he was doing in his car seat, he was fast asleep holding his little elephant. (Melt!)
  • After such a glowing report of his sleeping habits, he has turned from his rhythmic ways. I’m hoping the reason is just his vaccinations and the spicy curry I ate. . . we’ll see.
  • I talk to Scotland alot. I think most people think I’m crazy, including my husband.
  • We got a swing on Friday. He loves it.
  • Shoveling with Scotter in the baby bjorn is very difficult- nearly impossible. I was determined to transplant a few plants, but his crying quickly led me to desert the task, and wait until he was napping.
  • He still hates to have a wet/dirty diaper, though he is not as demanding that we change it right away. He loves a clean diaper.
  • He continues to be spontaneously smiley- in his sleep, with his toys, when we talk to him, or even when he’s sitting on my lap trying to get the attention to the sister next to me in Relief Society.
  • He loves “Paddy cake” and will give wide mouthed smiles when you sing it with him.
  • He loves to cuddle.
  • He likes bath time. (We still don’t have a baby tub so I just wipe him off. He enjoys both the sound and feel of the water.)
  • He can sleep through anything.

  1. We only owned a baby tub once: mostly I washed my babies in the sink with a folded up towel as a “mattress” to soften the cold of the enamel. At his age, you’ll probably need to have most of your arm in the sink under water holding him, so everyone will get wet. But if the water is nice and warm, he may love it. And babies smell so lovely after a bath.
